ABOUT

About

IceFlow is a gentle, yoga-inspired edge class designed specifically for skaters of all skill levels from beginner to professional. Connect leaning, twisting and stretching movements with the breath as we flow with each other across the ice to music.

For every move, every series of steps, a one-foot and tilting or deep leaning position, as well as a two- foot, non-twisting or “Horizon”, option is demonstrated.  Every skater is made to feel comfortable and welcome.

Technically, the focus of the class centers on weight transfer, and discovering a full range of motion in every direction. Students also become aware of the skaters around them, respecting and coordinating with all members of the group.

The main goal is to encourage people to discover the joy of skating.

Elin Schran

Elin Schran founded Joy Skate Productions in 2018 to make the joy of skating accessible to all. The company achieves this goal by partnering with corporate clients to bring high-energy professional shows to the public free of charge. Joy Skate also has an outreach and educational component, offering camps, workshops, and community events to skaters of all ages, abilities, and skill levels.

In 2007 Elin created IceFlow, a yoga-inspired edge class for all ages and skill levels. IceFlow aims to connect movement with the breath while incorporating twisting, stretching, and gliding choreography. The main objectives of IceFlow include awareness and control of weight transfer, increased comfort with shifting balance points, and a celebration of the joy of skating and being in the present moment.

For more than 20 years Elin has specialized in helping adult skaters of many skill levels feel comfortable and confident on the ice while being challenged in a positive way.

TESTIMONIAL
“What makes it great is Elin's low key, encouraging, warm way. And combine that with her talent for getting the point across and her beautiful skating. That's what makes it awesome.”   - Fortunata Barone

"As an adult skater I've always had a hard time learning to flow with my edges, while being soft with my upper body. Elin's approach to skating and ice flow allows me to feel my edges while stretching my lines. I feel longer, more graceful and fluid, and for the first time I feel like I flow over the ice instead of forcing my skating. She's a true gift!"   - Marci Nault
